Making visiting card in group excel data

Excel FILE save in csv (coma delimited) format and CLOSE IT

Condition and our observation

Photoshop all version

1. The number and name of column id in excel = variable NUMBERs and NAME in Photoshop

                        (If one column extra or with change spell in excel, gives error in import)

2. The image variable column id could be any name and simple image path data can be placed

            (3.it WORKS in cs6 but NOT in higher version of Photoshop)

condition in Photoshop variable making

1. While defining variable, the name in replace box should same as variable concern

2. No double word, _, @ is accepted

(Only one word: safe for define variable, same in LAYER, VARIABLE, VARIBLE REPLACE NAME, LAYER ID)

OPTION: IMAGE - VARIABLE - DEFINE / DATA SET

(Use import option in data set window)

Disadvantage: >to take print all in one, we need to merge all by File - automate - photo merge >even merge the id card size are not in required size > We use menu Image and file > Option                                     Define / dataset                                              Export                                     Script                                     Automate

Advantage: data set can be named as first column while importing we can define

Separate all data: 1. File - export - data set to file 2. File - script - image process

 

 

 

B.for InDesign

1. the no of column id in excel does not matter but

2.the image variable column id could be '@photo

OPTION :

WINDOW - UTILITY - DATA MERGE

 (Use import option in right top dropdown)

Separate all data:

1. Option in right top dropdown or icon there - create merged document

2. Option in right top dropdown - export to pdf

Advantage: 1.creat merged document option have choice

a.    single document no of times in single page

                    Multiple documents in single page

              2. All card maintain the same size

                    Document size can be change at any time to fit card in one print

whats special in indesign

1.generte text to image in window menu

When a text frame shows overset text (the red + sign) in Adobe InDesign, it means some text is hidden and not visible in the frame.

To place the remaining text automatically:

• Click on the red + icon (overset text indicator).

• Hold Shift and click on the margin of the next page.

• InDesign will automatically create the required number of pages and flow the text into them.

Manual control option:

• Click the red + icon.

• Hold Alt (Option) and click where you want the next text frame.

• This allows you to manually place and control the text flow across the pages.

This method helps quickly distribute long text across multiple pages without creating each page manually.

1. Best Method (Use InDesign Script)

1. Go to Window → Utilities → Scripts.

2. Open Application → Samples → JavaScript.

3. Find PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx.

4. Double-click it.

5. Select your PDF file.

6. Choose All Pages.

The script will automatically:

• Create new pages

• Place one PDF page per InDesign page

• Keep the correct order

This is the most reliable professional method.

The grid happens when you drag while using the arrow keys.

Here is the correct method.

Correct way to place multiple images as a grid

1. Go to File → Place (Ctrl + D).

2. Select multiple images (hold Ctrl and select many files).

3. Click Open.

Now your cursor will show loaded images.

4. Click and drag the mouse on the page to start drawing a frame.

5. While still holding the mouse button, press:

• Right Arrow → add columns

• Up Arrow → add rows

• Left Arrow → reduce columns

• Down Arrow → reduce rows

When you release the mouse, InDesign will place all images into that grid automatically.

Example

If you press:

• Right Arrow 3 times

• Up Arrow 2 times

You will get a 4 × 3 image grid instantly.
